Christmas 2009

This was the best Christmas yet! My mom spent the week of Christmas with us, she was able to help out with Griffin. He had come down with a cold earlier in the week and was not the happiest camper. But he still managed to have a great time with Grandma making cupcakes, pies and applesauce. My mom sure knows how to keep him busy! They came to install the countertops on Tuesday so that was the best Christmas present for me! I came home from work to running water! It was so nice after being without it for weeks. Christmas Eve we went for a ride to look at the lights around town, it was so beautiful. Then it was a long night putting together Griffin's train table and kitchen. Lots of parts and no words on the directions, not a great combo. But we did it together. Griffin had a blast opening up all his gifts. He had to try on every pair of shoes that he got, if you check out his feet throughout the pictures you will notice his shoes changes! He is really too funny about some things. Andrew has had a lot of fun with his hard hat! We had a nice and relaxing morning opening presents and a breakfast break was perfect so Griffin could recharge his engine. Andrew's parents came by for lunch and it was more presents. We had a delicious dinner that my mom prepared and then it was off to Andrew's uncles for a quick visit. Griffin had a blast playing with his buddy, Henry. My uncle came up the day after Christmas they played with all of Griffin's toys. Griffin had a great time playing trains with Unkie. They were so cute to watch. It was a great Christmas!

December at a Glance

December sure flew by and as always I am a slacker at updating the blog. Life has been so busy lately. The first few weeks were gone before I knew it. For those of you that don't know we have been renovating the kitchen.( I will post pictures soon) But we replaced, the floor, cabinets and countertops, everything except the appliances. We even went as far as to cut the wall in between the living room and kitchen in half. It really opens the rooms up. Andrew did most of the work, he started over Thanksgiving and then we had to wait for the countertop. His cousin, Jaime helped hang the cabinets, knocked out the wall and hung all the trim. It looks completely different. But living with renovations and a 2 yr old are not a good combo. But thankfully we are finished! We just have some more painting to do and everything will be perfect.
But in December we had a real fun play date with Alyssa, Griffin loved her dress up heels, he wouldn't take them off. They did really good sharing. Griffin had a lot of fun decorating the tree, he hung the majority of the ornaments and liked to comment on which ones were his favorites. We even hung some lights in his bedroom. We were finally ready for Santa to come!

Doyle Family Christmas

We celebrated Christmas with my family the weekend before Christmas. And just like in years past the weather didn't cooperate. So it was a quick trip to CT. We drove down on a Friday and back on Saturday Night. Ct ended up getting almost 2 ft of snow in some areas so we were lucky to make it home without being stuck driving in it. My brother in law, Ken was a trooper and played Santa, the older kids played along. Griffin was so excited. When asked what he wanted Santa to bring him, Griffin was consistant and replied " a Brown Present"? We tried to get him to elaborate but nothing ever came of it. So hopefully he got it!

Even though it was a short visit it was still great to see my family. I wasn't able to hook up with my cousin Joyce and make all my usual stops to see people but there is always next trip!

Elmo

So we went to see Elmo's Green Thumb last night.... Griffin was so excited. He was dancing and jumping up and down in his seat. We were in the middle section on the floor so it was hard to give the character's high fives, so we ended up moving to the an isle seat during the second half. You could start to see how tired he was during the second act. But he is a trooper especially since his 2 yr molars are coming in. I had called the Civic Center and asked about bringing in my camera and was told it was not allowed. Andrew had thought it would be fine, but I was nervous if them taking it so I didn't. And of course it was not a problem. So I only have a few pics/videos from my cell which I was holding wrong of course! Can't win sometimes. He was so cute, everyone around us was commenting on how he was so into the show! Definately worth the price. And next time I am smuggling in my camera I don't care what they say!

Happy Friday

This week has sure flown by! I really can't believe that it is December 4th.. Griffin is very into his superhero characters lately. He was so excited to wear his Superman shirt today. He was asking Andrew all about him, it was really cute to hear him explaining Superman to him. Griffin's class is getting into the holiday spirit, they have turned all the kids faces into elves. I thought Griffin's picture was just too funny not to share. In school they started singing Christmas carols this week. Griffin is already singing Jingle Bells all the time. It is adorable to hear his little voice. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Thanksgiving 2009

It was a great Thanksgiving, Griffin and I went to Ct and spend the time with my family.
Andrew stayed in Maine to work on our kitchen, it is coming right along. It looks beautiful. We stayed with my sister and her gaggle of children .. only four teenagers but still there is never a dull moment, that was non stop, laughs, jokes and my favorite, eating. They sure do know how to put the food away, esp my youngest niece, she polished off a pint of cookies and cream ice cream in like 15 minutes. She reminds me of myself back in the day, eating cheesecake for breakfast! Wednesday my nieces and I went to my mom's and helped her with the veggies and desserts. She prepared all the food at her house and my sister and I transported it for her. Her turkey, stuffing and gravy is worth the drive home itself! I could drink her gravy it has a taste like no other. And to think it comes from a can she just adds salt and pepper! Just Kidding, Nora! There were almost 30 people at my sisters for Thanksgiving. This year we were joined by my brother in laws parents... not sure if they knew there were going to be so many people. It was a great time. There were 3 turkeys and every veggie imaginable. The desserts, oh I could've eaten them by themselves. Some chocolate honey bee cake that was covered in rich chocolate.
It was great seeing my family and watching Griffin have so much fun with everyone. My sister was able to get her nephew fix, when she rocked him to sleep at 10pm after many attempts over 3 hours. He really knows how to prolong going to bed. Much like his mother!!
