Our Little Golfer

Griffin is taking up a new sport, golf. He says "I putt ball" He was very excited last night when we were showing him how to play. He thinks it is the best thing wheeling the golf bag around. If anything he will be a great caddy someday!
And YES he does opt some nights to eat with his helmet on. He thinks it is the coolest thing.

Griffin's New Friend

A 6 week old little girl, Lily has joined Griff's daycare. She has some hip problems so her legs are in braces, she might have to have an operation to correct it. Griffin and the other kids have taken to her, stopping by to check on her in between playing. Arlene, the daycare provider, shared this picture with me. He just looks so sweet.

Memorial Day Weekend

It was a busy weekend for us. No picnics but lots of family time.
Cindy, Ken and Maddie came up on Saturday.
We had a sleep over with Maddie, we watched Momma Mia and had toll house cookie sundaes. They left Sunday morning and took Nora back to Ct. Andrew and I golfed in a tournament with his father and uncle to benefit the Maine Childrens Cancer Foundation, it is an annual tournament. It started to rain but then it turned out to be perfect weather for golf. Griffin spent the day at the camp with his cousins. He had a lot of fun riding bikes and playing on the swings with Henry. Monday Andrew worked on the boat and I had softball practice. His parents stopped over on their way back to Mass. Larry couldn't resist a piece of Nora's homemade apple pie, he needed a second piece just to make sure he liked it. They played baseball with Griff in the yard for a bit before heading home.

One of Griffin's new favorite things is to be spun around while holding his bubble wand. This is something my mom was doing with him. He laughs the whole time and then say's "do it again please"
Griffin keeps asking where everyone went. "where did (name) go?" Maddie, Uncle Ken, Grandma, Cinny, Poppa, and Grammie. He goes through the whole list.
It was a great weekend.

Pool Side

Well we didn't make it to the beach on Friday, we opted to fill the pool and just hang.
Griffin had a blast playing with all his squirters and cups. He quickly figured out how to splash Mommy, and was so proud of himself. He was shocked when I splashed back. He gets so silly. He is doing real good keeping on his sunglasses.
I was excited to try on some of the cute bathing suits that didn't fit him last year, size 12 months. Well the sad news is they still don't fit him. We tried on 3 before finding one that came close to fitting. Most kids wear one size bigger than their age not Griffin, he seems to be wearing the opposite in shorts & swim trunks. All of his shorts have belt loops but I haven't been able to find a belt anywhere.
I think he looks like my Pop in this picture. Too cute.

Gray Animal Farm

It was a hot one today, in the 90's. We should've hit the beach instead of the animal farm. Most of the animals were resting. I don't think they have acclimated to the high temps yet since it was in the 50's last week. If tomorrow is as warm as today we will be hitting the beach I think. Another great day with grandma!

Out in the yard

Finally able to play outside Griffin and grandma took full advantage. They went for a walk, played ball, bubbles and enjoyed the hammock. When I got home Griffin had a lot of fun playing with his ball. He definitely tired himself out today. We are so happy that he likes to be outside. Tomorrow is the animal farm. More pictures to come I am sure!

Week with Grandma

Griffin's daycare is closed this week so my mom is taking care of him for us. They are having so much fun together. She is borderline crazy when it comes to kids especially her grandkids. She loves to act all silly and make them laugh. When Griffin woke up on Sunday morning the first word out of his mouth was "Brahma" then "Where Brahma go" And it has been like that ever since. They have made a chocolate cream pie from scratch, she is definately making me look bad on that one. She was horrified when I suggested using canned whipped cream!! He did like the "I taste"-ing it part.

Unexpected Visitor

I came home early from work on Thursday and opened the garage door and out came this furry animal. At first I thought it was the neighbors cat but then realized it was a raccoon. It was limping and walking all wobbly like it was drunk. I happened to be on the phone with my sister and she suggested it might be rabid. So I called Animal Control, who works part time, so they called the police. In the meantime I watched it take a few steps and then roll over on it's back and rest then get up and take a few more. I had no idea what the hell it was doing. I just didn't want to get too close b/c I was afraid it would snap out of it's dazed and confused stage and attack me. The police came and Andrew went out and looked for it with the officer. It had a fractured front leg it was dying b/c it had lost so much blood. It has moved on to a more peaceful place.

Cut, Cut Trees!

Last weekend we cut down about 25 trees in the yard, making room for Griffin's swing set. He was walking around the yard with his toy chainsaw saying "cut, cut." We still have to remove the stumps and then plant grass, we are hoping for mid June to be done. Weather permitting of course! Griffin now says "Cheese" when I pull out the camera and puts on the biggest grin!

Take Me Out to the Ballgame

Well last night was our first co-ed softball game. Our team is a little rusty but with a trip to the batting cages and 1 or 2 practices I feel that we will be good to go. Griffin was great at the game, he sat in his wagon and took it all in. He was wiped out by the time we got him home.

Trip to Ct

A couple weekends back, Griffin and I went to CT. Kenzie was in a play which she was fabulous in!! I actually cried when she came out on the stage, she is such a beautiful girl. I looked at her and remembered holding her in the hospital the day she was born almost 16 years ago. Crazy I know. On my way down she informed me that she was going to be inducted into the National Honors Society that following week. Brains and Beauty what a package.
It was a great trip down, except for Griffin getting pink eye and us altering our intinery a little. Beth was my date for the play, afterwards we headed back to Cindy's for a cousins night, we stayed up way too late (I only got 3 hours sleep) but it was a GREAT time catching up. I think I horrified Ken but he will heal in time.
We had a family brunch on Saturday which was great but I had to cut out early because Griffin's eyes were starting to get yucky and I wanted to get some meds for him. So that was a bummer. Griffin had so much fun with everyone, he definately enjoys being the center of attention. It does still take him a few minutes to warm up to everyone but then watch out. We will be heading back in June for another trip to see my grandfather who just returned from Hawaii.

Let's Play Ball!

I have organized a co-ed softball team that Andrew and I will be playing in this summer. Griffin is all about his bat and ball. He insists on holding the bat with one hand but does do a good job of swinging it. He does have a pretty good arm. He is a funny little munchkin.

Weekend with the Browns

In the beginning of April we met up with the Browns at the Children's Museum in Portland. The kids had a great time playing on all the exhibits. It was very sweet how Avery waited for "Griffy." She is such a sweetie. Griffin definately had to step up his A game to keep up with her but had a lot of fun. Sunday Griffin and Avery played outside in the yard. This summer they will have a lot of fun together.
